Hello!

I’m Kathryn

Coach, running enthusiast, passionate environmentalist and plant-based athlete.

I started running over 15 years ago after getting two high energy dogs that needed copious amounts of exercise.  Running soon became a habit with the side benefits apparent. My body became fitter and stronger, my mind became free and I felt healthy and well.  I signed up for a half marathon and fell in love with endurance running. I love the challenge of pushing my mind and body to the limits, of overcoming obstacles that pop up along the way and of course that post-run adrenalin is the best feeling ever!

My transition to a plant-based diet randomly came about at the end of a trip travelling around Europe almost 10 years ago.  I had competed in the Paris triathlon and cycled around France drinking lots of rosé and eating loads of cheese and steak tartare.  On my last day in Paris, I went to the iconic Shakespeare and Company bookstore and picked up ‘Eating Animals’ by Jonathon Safran Foer.  As a passionate environmentalist and lover of animals it appealed to me at the time and seemed like a good read for the epic flight home.  It was a life changing read. I stepped off that plane as a person who no longer ate meat and within a month had become completely plant-based.  I finally felt aligned with my values by doing the best I could to reduce my impact on the planet without harming others.

I became obsessed with learning everything I needed to know about eating plant-based while training for endurance events.  There was definitely a learning period with having no idea what I was doing. Legumes? What are legumes? I absorbed all the information I could find, I consulted with sports dietitians and tweaked my diet to make sure I was getting everything I needed to fuel my body to be at its best.  I have competed in half marathons to full ironman events as a thriving plant-based athlete. I have had the joy of having two babies and training throughout pregnancy whilst supporting my body on a plant-based diet. It really is possible to perform and be fit and healthy while eating plants.  

I wasn’t achieving all my running and health goals alone and neither should you! I have had coaches along the way to help me achieve my goals.  I am a big believer in the importance of having a team and working collaboratively. Having an experienced person by your side teaching you everything they know, guiding you to your full potential gets you where you want to be so much quicker and makes it so much more fun!
